Some Handstand Tips
Handstands, handstand pushups – Everyone wants to get them, and so can you! Take a minute, read through these tips, and if you have an extra minute, read the great article from the CrossFit Journal for more ways to develop your handstand.
- FIGHT – for the hollow position
Bring your rib cage down towards your hips
- TO FEEL IS TO BELIEVE
Sounds weird but looking at the floor can cause your body to arch. Feel the difference between hollow and arched as you start to bring your sight into the game.
- GET STRONGER
Lift some weights. Wall walk. Just get stronger
- SQUEEZE the MACHINE (your body that is!)
Ok maybe not THAT hard…but brace the core, butt is tight, quads squeeze the legs straight and toes pointed towards ceiling.
- DO THE WORK
Find a friend to hold you up…kick up into a wall…wall walk…throw yourself upside down…The more you do it, the quicker you’ll be a pro
